Cambridge Public Schools in Cambridge, MA, seeks an Extended Term Substitute SEI Teacher for Grade 1 newcomers. Position runs November 2026 through March 2027 at Graham & Parks School/Multilingual Learner Education Department.

The teacher will plan lessons with WIDA ELD standards and CPS ESL curriculum, using SIOP to differentiate and scaffold. Collaboration with families and continuous professional growth are expected.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education with courses in second language acquisition and/or applied linguistics.
• Massachusetts teacher licensure in Elementary 1-6 or Early Childhood PreK-2 with SEI endorsement and ESL PreK-6 is preferred.
• At least 1 year experience in a linguistically diverse or urban setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for education.
• Familiarity with data systems such as Google Suite for Education, Aspen, Ellevation, and SchoolCity.
• Willingness to engage in training to build instructional capacity for all learners.
• Culturally responsive and attentive to families and educators.
• Proficiency in English; fluency in another language preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Teach Grade 1 in a Sheltered English Immersion Newcomers classroom.
• Plan instruction using WIDA 2020 ELD Standards and CPS ESL curriculum.
• Use SIOP framework with scaffolding and differentiation.
• Commit to continuous learning and collaboration to support all students.
• Engage with diverse families to foster belonging and respect.
