Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking mid- to senior-level candidates for a Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist. The role involves independent work and leading a team on sediment remediation projects for Federal and Public sector clients. Preference for experience with CERCLA/regulatory processes and strong communication.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. A Bachelor's degree plus 7 years related experience is expected, with equivalent experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 7 years related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally.
• Experience leading teams on sediment remediation projects.
• Ability to interact with Federal and Public sector clients.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port settings.
• Apply principles of sediment transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial design and construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on complex sediment sites and communicate strategy to clients and experts.
• Possess deep knowledge of CERCLA, GLLA, and other regulatory steps for contaminated sediment sites.
• Act as technical liaison with clients, public, and outside consultants.
• Lead staff in preparing and reviewing technical information to ensure regulatory compliance.
