Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Supervisory detainee security role to oversee custody and security operations in a correctional setting. This position emphasizes leadership, policy enforcement, training, and safe, compliant facility management.

You will supervise staff, ensure adherence to procedures, respond to incidents, and prepare records and reports to support facility goals and regulatory compliance. This is a full-time on-site role in Newark, NJ.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences or related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in a correctional setting, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Must be mature, flexible and able to handle high mental stress; must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assists in development and implementation of policies, procedures and regulations for custody, security and/or treatment of detainees.
• Responds to major unusual occurrences and provides prompt assistance for injuries, illnesses, or emotional trauma.
• Directs work of other employees, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensures staff training and compliance with procedures and emergency protocols; reviews disciplinary matters.
• Maintains daily logs and prepares records and reports as assigned by management.
• Directs detainee supervision and security in multiple areas as needed and supports facility goals.
