Job summary

Intermountain Health's Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO is seeking a Security Officer to protect patients, staff and visitors. You will monitor surveillance systems, enforce policies, respond to emergencies, and support safety programs to maintain a secure healthcare environment.

The role requires vigilance, de-escalation skills, and collaboration with HR and law enforcement. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered for full-time employees along with Intermountain's benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License (if applicable for the role).
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security technology systems including surveillance cameras, access control, and alarms.
• De-escalation to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Intervene to protect safety when patients act aggressively or violently; use restraints if necessary.
• Ensure HIPAA-compliant reporting of crimes or incidents; disclose minimum information to law enforcement.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages per protocols.
• Participate in drills (infant abduction, active shooter) for staff readiness.
• Conduct respectful searches of patients; narcotics search per legal requirements.
• Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces and fire extinguishers.
• Enforce parking regulations to ensure safety and patient access.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations and information disclosure.
