Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and volunteers in an ambulatory setting. You will monitor surveillance, enforce policies, respond to emergencies, and protect facility assets.

The role requires de-escalation skills, adherence to HIPAA, and the ability to handle searches, safety inspections, and parking enforcement while coordinating with HR and local authorities as needed.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License.
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors security technology systems including surveillance cameras and access control.
• De-escalation to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Intervene to protect safety when patients act aggressively or violently.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance when reporting crimes or incidents.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following protocols.
• Participate in drills to prepare staff for real-life situations.
• Conduct safe searches of patients and searches for narcotics in compliance with law.
• Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces and fire extinguishers.
• Enforce parking regulations to ensure safety and access.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations.
