Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a part-time Security Officer to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff at a Denver-area facility. You will monitor security systems, de-escalate conflicts, and respond to emergencies while protecting Intermountain property.

The role involves working 32 hours per week in a hospital setting, with tasks including birth of infant abduct scenarios, inspections, and enforcement of safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver's license (if required for the role).
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum age 21 years.
• If located in Montana, security guard licensure required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors security technology systems including surveillance cameras, access control, and alarms.
• De-escalation of conflicts using verbal and non-verbal strategies to minimize force.
• Responds to emergencies and performs protective duties for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Complies with HIPAA and other regulations when reporting incidents and sharing information with law enforcement.
• Responds to bomb threats and suspicious packages following safety protocols.
• Participates in drills such as active shooter scenarios to ensure staff readiness.
• Conducts respectful searches and narcotics checks in accordance with legal requirements.
• Performs safety inspections of walking surfaces and fire extinguishers to mitigate risks.
• Enforces parking regulations to ensure safety and accessibility for patients.
• Collaborates with HR and law enforcement for investigations while protecting patient information.
