Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to protect guests, team members and assets in a fast-paced store environment. You will welcome guests, deter theft, respond to incidents, and document actions using the store’s case management system.

The role requires 18+, a HS diploma, and ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. Training is provided to build skills in de-escalation, surveillance, and security procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

• Greet guests at various distances and initiate helpful interactions.
• Help guests find what they need and resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a culture of safety and security across the store and exterior areas.
• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Leverage de-escalation tactics and resources as needed across the store.
• Conduct theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support when required.
• Submit documentation in the case management system following AP policy.
