Job summary

Target is looking for a Security Specialist to help ensure guest and team safety in a fast-paced retail environment. The role emphasizes customer service, de-escalation, and effective use of surveillance systems to document and resolve incidents.

Training is provided, with a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Role requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and independent as well as teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments.
• Greet guests and assist them in finding what they need or resolving issues.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards storewide and on exterior property.
• Respond to security incidents promptly and document them accurately.
• Use de-escalation tactics and Target's video surveillance system as needed.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as required.
