Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to protect guests, team members and assets in a fast-paced retail environment. You will respond to incidents, document findings, and support loss prevention with de-escalation and surveillance skills. The role requires independence, teamwork, and a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

This position emphasizes safety, compliance with AP policies, and a customer-focused approach to maintain a secure shopping experience across store operations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Capable of remaining focused in a fast-paced environment while accomplishing multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments.
• Greet guests at 10ft and 4ft with a warm, helpful interaction.
• Help guests find what they need and resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards storewide.
• Respond to security incidents in a timely manner and document actions.
• Leverage de-escalation tactics and escalate when needed.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support per AP policies.
• Prevent theft at the front of store and document trends in the case management system.
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system effectively.
