Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to protect guests, team members and assets while delivering a positive shopping experience. The role emphasizes de-escalation, incident documentation, and collaboration with store leadership to maintain safety and security.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, handle various security tasks, and participate in training programs designed to develop skills in crisis response, safety, and loss prevention.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments: greet guests at 10ft and 4ft, assist with needs, resolve issues, and thank guests.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards storewide including exterior property.
• Respond to and document security incidents promptly using case management systems.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed per AP policies.
• Detect and prevent theft by performing merchandise receipt checks and communicating trends.
