Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to protect guests, team members and assets in a fast-paced retail environment. You will engage with guests, provide assistance, and uphold Target's safety standards while collaborating with store leadership and Assets Protection (AP).

Responsibilities include monitoring incidents, documenting with our case management system, and applying de-escalation techniques. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other tech equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring guest experience while maintaining security standards.
• Greet guests and help them find what they need or resolve issues.
• End each guest interaction with a sincere thank you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while staying positive and respectful.
• Promote a physical security culture throughout the store, including exterior areas.
• Respond to security incidents and document them promptly in the case system.
• Use de-escalation techniques and surveillance tools as needed.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and communicate trends to AP.
• Perform front-of-store checks to prevent theft and shortages.
