Job summary

Westhab Inc. is seeking a Safety Security Officer to maintain safety and security of clients, staff, and property at a homeless shelter. The role involves round-the-clock security operations, face-to-face relief with overtime, and coordination with supervisors.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, NYS Security Guard License, and CPI certification is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to handle incidents and daily logs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; NYS Security Guard License and 8-Hour Annual Certificate required.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred (F02).
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Monitor clients' behavior and provide excellent customer service while enforcing facility policies.
• Control access at the main entrance with magnetometer/x-ray screening.
• Conduct crisis intervention and document incidents.
• Make hourly rounds throughout the facility.
• Respond to incidents and assist with client intakes.
• Complete logs and reports; communicate with police and first responders as directed.
• Operate security equipment and fire alarm systems; assist with evacuations when needed.
