Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Security Technician to install, program, test, and commission security, fire, and building-automation systems on diverse projects. You will serve as the primary technical interface for customers, delivering training and ensuring safety and quality across assignments.

You’ll work with a dynamic team, mentor junior staff, and contribute to a culture that values growth, integrity, and exceptional service. This role is based in Illinois with on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong technical skills in building automation, fire alarm and life-safety systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams; skilled with test instruments.
• Experience mentoring or training other staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems including security, fire alarm, life-safety and building automation.
• Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams; troubleshoots and fixes equipment or software.
• Demonstrates systems, completes commissioning and start-up, and provides customer training.
• Leads onsite project execution with safety, quality and performance in mind.
• Mentors less experienced staff and coordinates with project managers and subcontractors.
