Job summary

The NYC Department of Social Services is seeking a Deputy Director of Security under the HRA Office of Police Operations to lead field security forces citywide. The role involves direct supervision of Lieutenants and Captains, oversight of Patrol Officers and contracted guards, and coordination with NYPD and other agencies.

Qualifications

• Six years of full-time, satisfactory experience in a protection or security program.
• At least eighteen months in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or in supervising security personnel.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day management of field security forces, including direct supervision of Lieutenants and Captains assigned to supervise Sergeants who monitor Patrol Officers and contract guards.
• Perform on-site inspections to observe results of security monitoring and evaluate performance of Captains, Lieutenants, and other security personnel.
• Direct and oversee investigations of incidents and assessments of security risks with timely reporting.
• Establish goals and priorities for maintenance of security and deterrence of incidents.
• Advise the Chief of Patrol Operations of significant security issues and provide regular reports and recommendations.
• Assist in determining personnel needs and ensure proper scheduling and deployment of field security personnel.
• Advise on Workplace Violence Prevention Program and participate in associated reviews.
• Liaise with NYPD and other law enforcement agencies.
• May perform duties of the Chief of Patrol Operations in absence.
