Job summary

The NYC Department of Social Services is seeking a Supervising Special Officer III to function as Field Officer Captain, overseeing private contract guards across multiple locations and ensuring adherence to security policies. The role requires coordinating with police and facility staff to maintain safety and procedural standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and NYS Peace Officer status with appropriate training.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of fulltime satisfactory experience in the field of law enforcement, protection or security.
• Incumbents must be designated as Peace Officers and meet NYS training requirements for Peace Officers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and guidance to Supervising Special Officers I and II.
• Supervise, schedule, and evaluate performance of Supervising Special Officers.
• Conduct on-site inspections to ensure contract guards are compliant and locations are secure.
• Prepare reports and recommendations on security issues and incidents.
