Job summary

Allied Universal is hiring a Full Time Security Officer in Chicago, IL to deliver customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners while following site policies and responding to emergencies.

You will patrol buildings, residence areas, parking facilities, and surrounding perimeters, monitor for unusual activity, assist with access control, and support campus events with a professional, client‑focused demeanor.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license is required.
• Be at least 18 for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check and drug screening required.
• Criminal history reviewed as allowed by law.

Pay Rate: $20.00 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Tue 04:00 PM - 02:00 AM
• Fri 04:00 PM - 02:00 AM
• Sat 04:00 PM - 02:00 AM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating matters according to established protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, parking facilities, and surrounding perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
• Monitor for unusual activity, hazards, and policy concerns during patrols, document observations, and communicate relevant information to appropriate campus personnel.
• Assist with access control, visitor inquiries, directions, and campus events while maintaining a professional and customer-focused presence.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
