Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Security Officer Part Time Customer Support to serve residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by following site policies and security procedures. The role is based at the shelter location and utilizes our Claim a Shift platform to build a flexible schedule.

Day-to-day duties include patrolling the facility, monitoring entrances and logs, responding calmly to incidents, and communicating observations to site management.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Background check and drug screening per law.
• Licensing requirements may apply by state/local laws.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of the shelter location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter, to help identify and report unusual activity or facility concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site-specific procedures, documenting incidents and maintaining accurate activity logs.
• Communicate observations, incidents, and facility concerns to site management and/or Allied Universal leadership in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
