Job summary

Allied Universal® in New York, NY is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer (Unarmed) to patrol assigned areas, deter incidents, and deliver professional customer service to clients, visitors and staff. You will document incidents, monitor access points, and coordinate with site contacts to maintain a welcoming environment.

The role offers flexible scheduling through our Claim a Shift platform, with shifts on Wed and Thur nights.

Qualifications

• Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check required by client.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements vary by state/local laws; may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, staff and individuals accessing a government-operated shelter setting while following site security procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas; report suspicious activity.
• Monitor access points; assist with visitor and contractor entry per site requirements.
• Respond to incidents calmly and professionally; notify site personnel and emergency responders as directed.
• Prepare clear activity logs, incident reports and shift documentation for Allied Universal leadership.

Pay Rate: $18.87 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Wed: 12:00 AM - 08:00 AM
• Thur: 12:00 AM - 08:00 AM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, staff, and individuals accessing a government-operated shelter setting while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures and policies.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, and perimeter locations, to help identify and report unusual conditions or unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and assist with visitor, staff, and contractor entry procedures in accordance with site requirements.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site personnel and emergency responders as directed.
• Prepare clear and accurate activity logs, incident reports, and shift documentation, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
