Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Security Officer - Enhanced Part Time Unarmed Patrol, Customer Assistance to provide reliable, on-site security and friendly service. You will work fixed anchor shifts with an option to pick up extra shifts via our scheduling platform to increase earnings and gain experience across sites.

Pay rate is $17.00–$18.00 per hour, with opportunities to grow while maintaining flexibility.

Qualifications

• X-Ray screening experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen may be required.
• Licensing requirements may apply per state/local laws.
• A valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers at a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents and concerns in a calm, professional manner following procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of building interiors and exterior areas.
• Monitor access points and assist with directing guests and service providers.
• Document incidents and communicate details to site leadership.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Unarmed Patrol Customer Assistance in New York, NY, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $17.00 - $18.00 / Hour

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. Its all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out site‑specific security‑related procedures and emergency response activities at a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of building interiors, exterior grounds, entrances, common areas, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, maintenance concerns, and policy violations.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with directing guests and service providers, and maintain awareness of authorized entry procedures.
• Document incidents, observations, patrol activities, and shift‑related information accurately and communicate relevant details to site leadership and incoming personnel.

Minimum Requirements

• X-Ray screening experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
