Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part Time Unarmed Security Officer for a government services location in New York, NY. You will provide professional customer service, perform routine patrols, monitor access, and report on security activities.

The role offers a flexible schedule (DayTime, Evening shifts) and pays $18.87 per hour. A NYS Security Guard License and at least 1 year of security experience are required, along with a high school diploma and background/drug checks.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
• Minimum one year of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a government-operated shelter location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, perimeter locations, and parking areas where applicable, to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity; verify authorization in accordance with site procedures and direct individuals to appropriate locations or personnel.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site personnel and emergency responders as needed.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain activity logs for incidents, patrols, observations, and security-related concerns in accordance with Allied Universal and site requirements.

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
• Have at least one year of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
