Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer in Long Island City, NY to safeguard residents, staff, and visitors across a Transitional Shelter setting. You will perform unarmed patrols, respond to incidents, and maintain a welcoming environment with strong customer service.

The role offers flexible scheduling with shifts such as day, evening, and overnight hours; pay rate is $18.87 per hour. Training provided; committed to people-first safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of residential common areas, entrances, exits, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual activity or conditions.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following site-specific protocols.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, maintain required logs and reports, and communicate relevant information to site management and Allied Universal leadership.
• Assist with maintaining an orderly residential environment by reporting maintenance concerns, policy violations, and other security-related issues in accordance with site procedures.

What You'll Do

Minimum Requirements

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
