Job summary

Ascension Providence in Waco, TX, is seeking a full-time Security Officer to monitor, respond to threats, and manage incidents.

The role requires adherence to alarms, emergency plans, and the ability to assist staff and visitors with safety information. Vehicle operation duties apply for eligible officers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
• Driver's License credential from Texas DPS obtained prior to hire.
• Security Guard Weapon Permit credential from Texas DPS within 120 days of hire.
• BLS Provider preferred; AHA or Red Cross accepted.
• Law Enforcement preferred.
• Security Professional credential from Texas DPS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform proactive monitoring of and timely response to potential/actual security threats.
• Investigate, document and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Maintain knowledge and follow policies and procedures re alarms and disaster preparedness; may facilitate drills and simulations.
• Provide information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• For officers operating a vehicle, drive safely and comply with traffic/parking rules.

Education

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Perform proactive monitoring of and timely response to potential/actual security threats.
• Investigate, document and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Maintain knowledge/follow policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans. May facilitate planned drills and simulations.
• Provide information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• For those security officers who are responsible for operating a vehicle, operate in a safe and responsible manner to avoid accidents and traffic or parking violations.

Licenses/Certifications/Registration

• Drivers License credentialed from the Texas Department of Public Safety obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Security Guard specializing in Weapon Permit credentialed from the Texas Department of Public Safety obtained within 4 Months (120 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Law Enforcement preferred.
• Security Professional credentialed from the Texas Department of Public Safety preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
