Job summary

South Mountain Elementary School in the Northern York County School District seeks a 2nd shift custodian to keep the building clean, safe, functional, and secure, ensuring no interruptions to the education program.

Compensation is $15.30 per hour with an additional $0.75/hour for 2nd shift during the school year. The position is 8 hours/day, 2nd shift during the school year and 1st shift in summer, with full-time district benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Act 34, 151 clearances and FBI fingerprinting are required upon hire and updated every five years.
• Negative TB test required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Daily custodial cleaning/preservation of facilities, buildings, spaces, equipment, and furniture.
• Maintain work related records and prepare work reports as directed.
• Provide custodial/maintenance services to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed for daily cleaning.
• Provide inventory usage data updates to Head Custodian (as needed).
• Identify, schedule and perform seasonal routine cleaning of facilities.
• Provide customer service to district staff, students and visitors as needed.
• Prioritize duties to address emergencies as needed.
• Oversee buildings and grounds security to include opening and closing of buildings and/or facilities and ensuring that all doors are secure.
• Unload and load supplies, materials and equipment as required.
• Landscaping duties including, but not limited to: mowing, weeding, and grounds maintenance.
• Snow removal duties including shoveling snow and salting walkways.
• Adherence to all Custodial Department requirements including proper use of machinery and equipment.
• Available to address on call or overtime needs for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, or any other District requests.
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Buildings and Grounds, Head Custodian, or Building Administrator.
