Job summary

Genie Matthews and Associates seeks a Production Supervisor to lead second-shift paint operations in a unionized auto manufacturing setting. You will manage one Team Leader and ~25 workers across loading, unloading, line support, inventory, and quality checks.

You’ll drive safety, quality, and productivity, coordinate labor and equipment, and push Lean/5S improvements while ensuring timely shift handovers and robust performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to organize people and set clear expectations.
• Automotive manufacturing experience preferred, especially molding/finishing.
• Experience with painted plastic components or related processes.
• Experience in a unionized facility with standard work and discipline.
• Exposure to automated lines, robotics, PLCs, conveyors, and sensors.
• Knowledge of production metrics, quality controls, and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership for second-shift paint operations and safety.
• Lead one Team Leader and ~25 production employees across multiple functions.
• Assign labor to meet daily production needs and maintain continuity.
• Monitor line performance, quality, scrap, downtime, and material use; take corrective action.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with procedures and PPE standards.
• Maintain coating quality by partnering with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production.
• Support troubleshooting of automated paint line, robotics, conveyors, sensors, controls; escalate as needed.
• Ensure materials are staged and tracked to support uninterrupted operations.
• Conduct shift start-up meetings and handovers to next shift.
• Train and develop staff, enforce standardized work, and address performance issues.
• Complete production reports, attendance and quality documentation; drive Lean/5S improvements.
