Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee a maintenance shop and a team of technicians responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of trucks, containers, and heavy equipment. The role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with federal and state regulations, coordinating scheduling and directing repairs across the fleet.

The supervisor will guide performance, conduct shop huddles, manage training and evaluations, and oversee inventory

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in maintenance working with heavy equipment.
• 1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor or other management role requiring a thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulations.
• ASE T2 Diesel Engine certification and ASE Master Certified status.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to the maintenance team to ensure repairs are performed safely, efficiently and timely.
• Monitor performance and redirect activities to improve operational efficiency.
• Report on performance and recommend process improvements.
• Oversee shop operations, including daily huddles, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Inspect outside repairs for compliance with safety and regulations; follow up as needed.
• Manage inventory control and budget, approving expenses within scope and escalating major items.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of engines, emissions, transmission, brakes and hydraulics for complex repairs.
• Handle administrative tasks including payroll, records, and maintenance software entries.
