Job summary

Vogrinc Search Group is seeking a Production Supervisor for the second shift in Grand Rapids, MI, to lead the paint operations team and ensure safe, on‑time production. You will direct one Team Leader and approximately 25 employees across loading, unloading, line support, inventory, material handling and quality auditing.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising production employees in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
• Automotive/paint line experience preferred.
• Familiarity with unionized environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on leadership for second‑shift paint operations and ensure safe, efficient execution of the production schedule.
• Lead, coach, and manage one Team Leader and ~25 production staff across multiple functions including loading, unloading, line support, inventory and quality.
• Allocate labor and resources to meet daily production needs while handling staffing or equipment constraints.
• Monitor paint-line performance, quality, scrap, downtime, and material usage; take corrective action when targets are missed.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with plant procedures, PPE, chemical handling and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance and Production to maintain product appearance and coating quality.
• Troubleshoot automated paint line, robotics, conveyors, sensors, and controls; escalate technical issues to minimize downtime.
• Ensure proper staging and control of paint, components, packaging and materials to support operations.
• Conduct shift start‑up meetings and provide clear handover to the next shift and plant leadership.
• Train and develop employees, reinforce standard work and address performance within a unionized setting.
• Complete production reports, attendance records and quality documentation; drive Lean, 5S and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
