Job summary

H&R Block in Michigan is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to help clients prepare tax returns and answer questions with guidance from day one. In this in-person role you’ll meet with clients, gather information, and apply training to complete returns accurately.

No prior tax experience required; training provided. You’ll earn a competitive hourly rate and have opportunities to grow your knowledge and earnings during the tax season, with evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
