Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Seasonal Postpartum Registered Nurse to educate and assist new mothers during the postpartum period on the Mother Baby Unit.

You will support families, collaborate with managers, and participate in hospital councils and nursing initiatives to influence patient care and nursing's future. You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and evaluate care plans, and supervise licensed and non-licensed staff as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as an RN.
• 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
• Associates Degree of Nursing; BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of mother and baby following standards of care and protocols.
• Plan, implement and evaluate care plans to optimize outcomes and resources.
• Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed staff within RN scope and policies.
• Provide education and emotional support appropriate to patient and family, recognizing postpartum depression symptoms.
