Job summary

SGS is seeking a Seasonal Lab Technician to assist in sample preparation with accuracy and adherence to SOPs. You will work under a supervisor and with a team to meet daily production targets, ensuring hold and turnaround times while maintaining safe laboratory practices.

The role requires basic instrumentation knowledge and careful data recording in the Laboratory Notebook, with training provided. High school diploma and 0–2 years in analytical chemistry or related labs are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories seed or biological laboratory or prior experience working with one’s hands.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis according to SOPs with basic instrumentation.
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
• Inputs and maintains technical information to support laboratory functions.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Description

Summary

The Seasonal Lab Technician will, with adequate training, prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' SOPs. Work under the direction of a supervisor and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.
