Job summary

SGS Dayton, NJ seeks an entry-level Lab Technician I to join the General Chemistry team. You will prepare samples with precision under SGS SOPs and work independently or with others to meet daily targets and turnaround times.

This seasonal, full-time role runs through December 31, 2026. Hourly pay ranges from $20 to $22, plus a $4/hr shift differential for eligible overnight shifts, with a 40-hour schedule each week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associates degree in Chemistry preferred.
• Basic math, reasoning, and computer skills required.
• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis following SOPs with basic instrumentation.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of prep instruments.
• Assist with validation and MDL studies as needed.
• Input and maintain technical information to support lab operations.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook and follow internal standards.

We are hiring for the following shifts:

• Mon-Fri, 8:00pm - 4:00am (this shift is eligible for a $4/hr shift differential)
• Tues-Sat, 12:00pm - 9:00pm
• Sun-Thurs, 8:00am - 5:00pm
• Wed-Sat, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Our Dayton, NJ laboratory is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician I to join their General Chemistry team! The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (Required)
• 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one’s hands (Required)
• Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Preferred)
• 1-2 years of years’ relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Mathematical Skills: Basic (Required)
• Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Basic (Required)
• Computer Skills: Basic (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $20 - $22 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
