Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Temporary Seasonal Christmas Coordinator to support the local Christmas Kettle program. You will recruit and liaise with volunteers, coordinate kettle locations at stores, and maintain records for all volunteers.

This role requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work with minimal supervision during the busy October–December season; you will also manage sign-outs, volunteer sign-ups, and social media updates.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid CA driver license.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills including multitasking and time management.

Responsibilities

• Recruit volunteers for bell ringing from churches, service clubs, schools, colleges, corporations, corps, advisory board members, families, youth organizations, senior organizations, volunteer groups, choirs, bands, and individuals.
• Manage TSA online volunteer recruitment.
• Coordinate kettles/stands at store locations and communicate with all locations.
• Keep volunteer sign-ups up to date (walk-in, phone, online).
• Maintain all records concerning volunteers, and collect necessary paperwork including background checks and privacy waivers.
• Answer kettle office phone, voicemail, and emails.
• Schedule delivery of countertop kettles and log sign-outs.
• Sign-out kettles to volunteers and receive/sign-in kettles at each shift.
• Keep track of totals for volunteers.
• Maintain social media updates and post frequently.
• Restock kettle supplies (candy, stickers, business cards).
• Track kettles, bells, stands, signs, repairs, orders, and final assessment.
• Ensure kettle slips are properly labeled and placed in kettles before volunteer exits.
• Help sanitize used kettles and check padlocks.
• Assist with counting kettle monies.
• Perform any other kettle/Christmas duties as assigned.
