Job summary

Qualifications

• College degree preferred but not required.
• 2 years' experience in a similar setting; analytics, sales, attention to detail, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
• Reliable and dependable; resolving requests in a timely fashion.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multi-task and remain flexible as needed.
• Well versed with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must have a driver's license and be legally able to drive.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation, management, and success of The Salvation Army Kettle program.
• Visit kettle locations before season starts and meet the manager to secure location.
• Scout new locations, approach store managers, and obtain permission to place kettles.
• Secure all necessary permissions, including insurance certificates and agreements.
• Schedule kettles during peak foot traffic times and staff accordingly.
• Hire workers and volunteers for the kettle season.
• Organize efforts to raise awareness through events and competitions.
• Provide orientation and training for kettle workers.
• Review kettle equipment and prepare maintenance or purchases as needed.
• Create daily and weekly schedules and manage volunteer rosters.
• Ensure proper paperwork is collected and accurate daily reports are reviewed.
• Address issues promptly and escalate serious matters to supervisors.
• Ensure money is counted and processed per policy and payroll records are accurate.
• Utilize Salvation Army software to manage the kettle program.
• Prepare thank you letters reflecting funds raised when no volunteer coordinator is hired.
• Recruit volunteers via multiple channels including clubs, schools, churches, and online ads.
• Review reports daily and implement changes as needed.
• Incorporate kettle best practices and participate in the Kettle Academy.
