Job summary

The Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 is hiring Seasonal Highway Technician 1 positions for the Winter Snow & Ice Season in multiple counties, including Ross and Chillicothe. The role involves outdoor highway maintenance, flagging, and operation of heavy equipment with a CDL.

Positions are seasonal/temporary not to exceed 1,000 hours and may require nights, weekends, and on-call shifts. Work locations include District 9 garages across Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike,

Qualifications

• Must be safety driven and able to work outdoors.

• CDL at the appropriate level is required to operate motorized equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on traffic control and flagging.
• Maintain highways through patching, mowing, litter pickup, drainage and vegetation management.
• Operate heavy equipment (dump truck, loader) and hand tools (chainsaw).
• Conduct snow and ice operations and related maintenance tasks.
