Job summary

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 4 is accepting applications for Seasonal Highway Technician 1 positions across multiple counties, including Summit and Akron. These temporary appointments may total up to 1,000 hours and may require up to 40 hours per week based on operational need.

Responsibilities include highway maintenance tasks such as flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repairs, litter pickup, mowing, and snow/ice operations.

Qualifications

• 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
• Ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repairs, litter pickup, mowing.
• Conduct snow and ice operations.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, or be on call.
