Qualifications

• Three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in forestry, parks or recreational management.
• At least one year in a supervisory capacity.
• Substitutions: an associate degree or higher may substitute for up to two years of required experience.
• Special requirements: possession of a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the maintenance of assigned recreational areas and facilities.
• Inspect state-operated forest and park areas to determine safety and maintenance needs.
• Patrol recreational areas and facilities to ensure compliance with rules and safety standards.
• Issue permits or authorize use of facilities and collect related fees.
• Maintain records and prepare reports concerning assigned work and recommendations.
• Organize and implement recreational and cultural programs and coordinate volunteers and staff.
• Determine supply needs and supervise equipment use; provide on-the-job training.
