Job summary

Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks a Seasonal Forest & Park Supervisor II for Middlesex Fells Reservation. The role oversees maintenance, safety, and program activities across recreation areas, coordinating staff and volunteers during the winter 2026-2027 season.

The position requires forestry/parks management experience, supervisory background, and a MA driver’s license, with duties spanning budgets, capital planning, and public safety.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in forestry, parks or recreational management
• At least 1 year in a supervisory capacity
• Massachusetts driver's license (Special requirements)

Responsibilities

• Supervises maintenance of assigned recreational areas including grounds, buildings, equipment, and hazardous tree removal
• Inspects state-operated areas to ensure safety and suitability for public use
• Patrols areas to ensure compliance with rules and safety policies
• Issues permits for facility use and collects related fees
• Maintains records and prepares reports on assigned work
• Organizes and implements recreational programs and coordinates volunteers
• Determines supply needs and oversees maintenance of equipment and vehicles
• Represents the agency at meetings with other agencies and groups to discuss objectives and resolve issues
• Prepares budgets and initiates capital outlay requests
• Oversees waterfront staff and enforces waterfront safety regulations
• Performs related duties as assigned
