Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts – Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking a Forest & Park Supervisor II for Southwest Corridor Park to supervise maintenance, safety inspections, and public programs in state forests and parks. This full‑time, seasonal position runs 11/15/26 through 3/20/27.

If filled for less than 90 days, it reverts to short‑term status with pay discussed at interview. Salary ranges from 56,733.30 to 77,304.76 yearly; driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Three years of forestry/parks experience; at least one year in supervision.
• Substitution: degree may replace up to two years of required experience.
• Mass. Driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance of parks and facilities including grounds/building/equipment maintenance and hazardous tree removal.
• Inspect state-operated forests and parks to determine safety and maintenance needs.
• Patrol recreational areas to ensure compliance with rules and safety standards.
• Issue permits or permissions for use of facilities and collect fees.
• Maintain records and prepare reports on work performed and recommendations.
• Organize and implement recreational and cultural programs for visitors.
• Coordinate activities of volunteers and other personnel.
• Determine supply needs and operate relevant equipment; interview candidates and train staff.
• Monitor activities to ensure proper maintenance of park areas.
• Consult with agency staff to resolve problems and recommend policy changes.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
