Job summary

Maine State Ferry Service is seeking an Intermittent Customer Service professional for our North Haven, ME location. The position features a fluctuating schedule based on business needs and requires arriving at the ferry terminal without the ferry service.

Responsibilities include selling tickets, handling fares, counting revenue, and providing schedules and information to customers by walk-in or phone. Applicants must have strong customer service skills and flexibility for weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality customer service when assisting the public on matters like transmissions, ferry or public services.
• Ability to use independent judgment in handling exceptions to standard work assignments and schedules.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service with a calm, welcoming, and helpful demeanor.
• Sell tickets and collect fares in accordance with published tariff for vessels and parking.
• Count tickets and money, prepare shift reports and deposits.
• Provide schedules, fares, and information in person or by telephone.
• Manage vehicle queues and assist outdoors in all weather; maintain terminal cleanliness.
