Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Seasonal Driver to operate a Salvation Army vehicle in Glen Burnie, MD for a limited holiday period (from approximately October 26, 2026 to December 24, 2026). The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and a valid state driver’s license, with about two years of vehicle operation experience.

Responsibilities include transporting bell ringers, collecting and delivering items, and maintaining vehicle safety and mileage logs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience operating an automotive vehicle; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid State Driver's License
• Medical Certificate

Responsibilities

• Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the Corps.
• Picks-up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to warehouse.
• Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state regulations and Salvation Army standards.
• Logs mileage on standard forms and ensures accuracy.
• Arrives at destination on schedule or calls ahead when delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe behavior.

This position is responsible for:

Driving a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers and Red Kettle equipment to bell ringing locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the Corps
• Picks-up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to warehouse.
• Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
• Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.

Other Responsibilities

• Records time for kettle pickup.
• May give relief to Bell Ringers to take their 15 minute breaks by ringing the bell at a kettle site.
• Washes and cleans vehicle regularly.
• Performs other related work as required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips.
• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
