Job summary

The Salvation Army in Charleston, WV is seeking a Seasonal Part Time Driver/Support role to assist with kettle operations and transportation duties. You will record mileage, ensure safety, and perform light vehicle maintenance as needed.

Responsibilities include driving to kettle locations, supervising breaks for Bell Ringers, keeping the vehicle clean, and logging hours accurately. A valid driver's license and ability to drive in heavy traffic are required; high school diploma or GED preferred,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Records time for kettle pickup.
• May give relief to Bell Ringers to take their 15-minute breaks by ringing the bell at a kettle site.
• Washes and cleans the vehicle regularly.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks the vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks the vehicle doors when the vehicle is not in use.
• Fuels the vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
• Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
• Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips.
• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomfort associated with changes in weather, such as rain, cold, snow, heat, or discomfort associated with long-distance trips or heavy traffic.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or GED, and experience working in a retail store preferred, OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
