Job summary

Salvation Army in Central Maryland is seeking a Seasonal Driver to operate a Salvation Army vehicle, transport passengers and red kettle equipment to bell ringing locations, and support the annual campaign. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid state driver’s license, and at least two years of vehicle operation experience.

You will log mileage, follow safety rules, and help with other bell-ringer duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate Salvation Army vehicle to transport bell ringers and equipment to kettle sites.

• Pickup Angel Tree donations and transport to warehouse.
• Pickup and deliver miscellaneous items as needed.
• Maintain vehicle safety, log mileage, and adhere to traffic regulations.

LOCATION: Central Maryland Area Command - Glen Burnie areaPOSITION: Seasonal DriverPOSITION TYPE: full-time, seasonal (from approximately October 26, 2026 - December 24, 2026)PAY RATE: $15.00 per hourThis position is responsible for:Driving a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers and Red Kettle equipment to bell ringing locations.Key Responsibilities:Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the CorpsPicks-up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to warehouse.Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Records time for kettle pickup.May give relief to Bell Ringers to take their 15 minute breaks by ringing the bell at a kettle site.Washes and cleans vehicle regularly.Performs other related work as required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSAbility to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips.Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years of experience operating an automotive vehicle; ORany equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSValid State Driver's LicenseMedical CertificateEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
