Job summary

The Salvation Army in Beckley, WV is hiring a Temporary Full-Time Driver to support bell-ringing operations. You will transport bell ringers to kettle sites, pick up Angel Tree donations, and transport miscellaneous items between sites and the warehouse.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities include recording mileage, refueling, keeping the vehicle clean, driving safely, and arriving on schedule.

Responsibilities

Job Location: PMC-Beckley, WV Corps - Beckley, WV, Position Type: Temporary Full Time, Education Level: High School Diploma/GED, Salary Range: $10.50 - $10.50Hourly, Schedule: Temporary - full-time (40 hours/weekly)

This position is responsible for:

Providing transportation for bell ringers to the kettle sites and the Corps. Picks up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to the warehouse. Picks up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Records time for kettle pickup.
• May give relief to Bell Ringers to take their 15-minute breaks by ringing the bell at a kettle site.
• Washes and cleans vehicle regularly.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks the vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks the vehicle doors when the vehicle is not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
• Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
• Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and on extended trips.
• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomfort associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat, or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or G.E.D., and experience working in a retail store preferred, OR
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
