Job summary

AXA XL is seeking a Claims Manager – SDI in the United States to lead a team handling high-exposure Subcontractor Default Insurance claims for major contractors. You will report to the Head of Construction, Environmental Pollution & Energy Claims, Americas, and drive strategy, performance, and client service across multiple claim teams.

You will oversee analytics, underwriting collaboration, and risk engineering, while ensuring regulatory and internal control compliance.

• Advanced experience managing and supervising Subcontractor Default Insurance claims.
• Proven ability to negotiate and settle large and complex files.
• Experience managing claims handlers and developing employee talent.
• Strong analytical skills with sound judgment and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Oversee claim processes related to coverage, exposure evaluation, reserving, proof of loss reviews, and SDI claim resolution.
• Manage audits and ensure Financial Internal Controls (FIC) compliance across the claims team.
• Develop and deliver claim analytics and data insights to Underwriting, Actuarial, and Risk Engineering.
• Collaborate with Underwriting and Risk Engineering on claim issues and trends; capture lessons learned; support policy/endorsement reviews.
• Provide superior customer service to policyholders and brokers, ensuring high service standards.
• Partner with team members, counsel and insureds to pursue subrogation opportunities cost-effectively.
• Identify strategic needs solvable through technology, process improvements, or training; supervise vendor management and expenses.
• Lead and develop the claims team through coaching and career development.
