Job summary

AXA XL in the United States seeks a SDI Claims Manager to lead a team handling high-exposure subcontractor default insurance claims for major construction projects. You will report to the Head of Construction, Environmental Pollution & Energy Claims and work with Underwriting, Actuarial, and Risk Engineering to shape claims strategy and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
• Extensive experience managing and supervising SDI claims.
• Strong analytical, communication, and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee SDI claim processes including coverage evaluation, reserving, and loss reviews.
• Ensure audits and Financial Internal Controls compliance across the claims team.
• Develop claim analytics and provide data insights to Underwriting, Actuarial, and Risk Engineering.
• Collaborate with Underwriting and Risk Engineering on trends; capture lessons learned; support policy/endorsement reviews; provide data-driven insights to underwriting decisions.
• Provide superior service to policyholders and brokers.
• Lead and develop the claims team through coaching and career development.
• Manage vendor relations and cost controls within the unit.
• Pursue subrogation opportunities where appropriate.
