AXA XL is seeking a skilled Risk Engineer for Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) in Stamford, CT. You will provide risk engineering consultation to underwriters, claims managers, and contractor partners, focusing on reducing the total cost of risk for AXA XL and insureds.

The role requires extensive construction expertise, strong communication, and the ability to travel 25–40% in a remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

  • Extensive direct construction experience across contractor/subcontractor/owner environments.
  • Experience applying construction lifecycle knowledge to risk control and claims management.
  • Ability to consult on broad construction management practices and assess exposures/controls.

Responsibilities

  • Provide risk engineering consultation to underwriters, claims managers, and SDI contractor partners.
  • Support SDI program lifecycle through training, risk identification, and customer meetings.
  • Review default scenarios and coordinate actions with stakeholders through claims processes.
  • Deliver risk improvement recommendations tailored to each customer to reduce cost of risk.
  • Develop SDI protocol/tools addressing national/regional trends to keep the product competitive.
