Job summary

MiniMed is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test II – Embedded Software/Firmware to join our Northridge, CA team in a hybrid role (3-4 days in office, 1-2 remote). You will design, develop and execute tests for embedded medical devices and software components, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Candidates should have JavaScript and/or Python experience, hands-on embedded systems testing, and familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab and Jenkins.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 0–2 years of software engineering or test automation experience (internships and co-ops count).
• Hands‑on experience with embedded systems and testing embedded firmware.
• Programming in JavaScript and/or Python for test automation.
• Experience with end-to-end functional testing and test automation.
• Familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, GitLab, Jenkins).
• Strong debugging across hardware and software layers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and execute functional, regression, and end-to-end tests for embedded systems and medical devices and software components.
• Prepare test plans, test cases, test reports, defect documentation, and traceability.
• Work on scripting to automate embedded systems components using Javascript/Python.
• Understand systems software design requirements.
• Understand BLE testing, including pairing, connectivity, synchronization, recovery, failover, and interoperability scenarios.
• Analyze logs to identify root causes in the embedded devices.
• May work across various software lifecycle activities as determined by program.
• Familiarity with AI concepts to evaluate and collaborate with AI development teams.
