Job summary

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Mass Spectrometry Scientist for an onsite, 12+ month contract in Thousand Oaks, CA. This role focuses on analytical protein chemistry and MS-based analysis to support drug candidates from discovery through optimization.

You will work with LC-MS tools and multiple MS platforms, generate data-rich reports, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams to ensure timely project progression.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Bachelor's with relevant experience in biopharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
• Experience with LC-MS for intact protein and subunit analysis.
• Experience generating and using large LC-MS data sets.

Responsibilities

• Conduct protein, peptide, and glycan analysis using MS techniques (RPLC-MS, RPLC-MS/MS, native-MS).
• Generate reports and communicate data to project teams to support early-stage pipeline.
• Work independently to advance projects within deadlines.
• Follow protocols and maintain accurate electronic lab notebook records.
• Communicate scientific concepts and results to team members.

Job Description

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Scientist for an Onsite position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a mass spectrometry scientist and analytical protein chemist with a consistent track record in biopharmaceutical protein support. In this vital role, you will be part of a team providing scientific and technical expertise to support the pipeline of drug candidates, from early discovery research through to later stage molecule optimization and selection.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct protein, peptide, and glycan analysis and characterization using mass spectrometry techniques, including RPLC-MS, RPLC-MS/MS, and native-MS
• Generate reports and communicate resulting data to project teams to support the diverse early-stage pipeline
• Work independently in advancing projects and studies within required deadlines
• Follow protocols and procedures, maintaining accurate records in an electronic lab notebook
• Communicate scientific concepts and results

Requirements:

• Master's degree and 2 years of experience in biopharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent OR
• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in biopharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent
• Experience using analytical characterization techniques such as RPLC-MS for intact protein, reduced and subunit protein mass analysis
• Experience with Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), protease digestion, intact protein analysis, and peptide mapping
• Experience generating, processing and using large LC-MS analytical data sets

Desired skills:

• Master or PhD level qualification with an emphasis in mass spectrometric analytical characterization
• Experience with protein digestion and RPLC-MS/MS to map protein sequence and characterize post translational modifications
• Experience using high-throughput MS like Rapidfire-MS
• Knowledge of multiple mass spectrometric (MassHunter, XCalibur, MassLynx) and chromatographic (ChemStation, Chromeleon) control software
• Knowledge of GeneData Expressionist data processing software
• Knowledge of statistical processing of data, including software such as Excel, Spotfire or JMP

Pay range:

up to $42.16 per hour
