Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools in Maryland is seeking a User Support Specialist (USS) to assist schools in using new technologies to support instruction and assessment. The USS will maintain an accurate technology inventory and act as the primary in-building contact for technology systems while delivering first-level support to staff and students.

Qualifications

• Two years successful experience supporting users with current Microsoft Windows operating system.
• Knowledge of culturally responsive practices.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with database, communications, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to lift at least 35 lbs.
• Ability to travel to school and other local locations.
• Manual dexterity and mobility for office tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide first level support within the building for administrative, instructional, computer systems and peripherals.
• Serve as primary contact within the building for technology related systems.
• Maintain lab and order supplies for computers and peripherals.
• Assist with distribution and collection of staff and student devices.
• Manage inventory and access to software on the network.
• Schedule and log teacher and student use of computer labs to support goals.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
• Provide orientations for software and hardware as needed.
• Manage the computer lab and work order system.
