Job summary

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and completion of Georgia POST Basic Mandate training. Preferred qualifications feature a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field and POST certification; ability to meet physical agility standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and Georgia P.O.S.T. Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.
• POST certification as a peace officer in good standing (GA).
• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Sociology or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs all law enforcement duties professionally per procedures and directives.
• Provide security clearance for each student entering the secure area.
• Includes times when youth leave the secure area for breaks and at session start.
• Regularly conduct walkthroughs of classrooms, hallways and school offices.
• Address disruptive, improperly dressed, late, and absent students.
• Facilitates safety drills as required by Georgia Prep Academy.
• Inspect areas for contraband and safety breaches after movements and breaks.
• Monitor security equipment and cameras; report problems immediately.
• Meet with supervisors and staff to increase student involvement.
• Assist planning weekly student meetings and coordinating monthly parent meetings.
• Position requires standing for extended periods.
• Facilitates group discussions on various law enforcement topics.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Georgia POST certification (Peace Officer)

Undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice / Public Administration / Sociology or related field
