Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.
• GA POST certified peace officer in good standing as defined by GAPOST Council.
• Preferred: undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Sociology or related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and order in a detention facility educational setting.
• Provide security clearance for students entering secure areas.
• Conduct classroom and corridor walkthroughs to monitor safety.
• Address disruptive, undressed, late, or absent students.
• Facilitate safety drills as required.
• Inspect areas for contraband and safety breaches.
• Monitor security equipment and cameras and report issues.
• Plan weekly student success meetings with education and probation staff.
• Coordinate monthly parent meetings.
